To Achieve Goal Alignment by Inter-Organizational Incentives: A Case Study of A Hydropower Project

Although the use of incentives has been widely recognized as an effective project management tool, its application still needs specific exploration. Existing research on mainly focuses intra-organizational incentives, lacking systematic with empirical evidence from perspective inter-organizational level. To fill this gap, study conducted in-depth investigation into and impacts by studying a typical case hydropower project. In case, series innovative involving multiple contractual incentive scheme concerning schedule, quality, safety, well environmental performance, is applied. Using mixed methodology that included document review, questionnaire survey, interviews, revealed could effectively help promote goal alignment, stimulate cooperative relationships, improve performance. This developed novel classification emphasized importance non-contractual informal which were ignored in previous research. The results further highlight while incentivized organizations generally value according to their monetary intensity, prioritization goals determined various factors. Therefore, achieve optimization schemes should comprehensively consider variety influencing factors rather than merely focusing intensity. These findings will both academic researchers industrial practitioners design execute for superior especially those projects pursue high sustainable performance safety included.
